Specials - Gibraltar Wrecks

DIVE THE ROCK ! The waters around 'The Rock of Gibraltar' provide so many opportunities for divers to train, gain experience or just explore some of our dive sites that are teaming with marine life. With the constant influx of fresh water from the Atlantic Ocean, Gibraltar has some of the most varied marine life in the Mediterranean.

Known in Greek mythology as one of the "Pillars of Hercules" Gibraltar is situated at the gateway to the Mediterranean. The six kilometre long peninsular, which is Europe’s second most southerly point, is connected to Spain by a 1.5 kilometre isthmus of sand on which stands the airport.

Gibraltar is steeped in nautical history and has been a safe haven for seafarers for hundreds of years. Roman and Phoenician anchors can still be found on Europa Reef. How many divers have not heard of the legendary “Buster Crabb”? He started his diving career in Gibraltar under the supervision of commander Bill Bailey in Rosia Bay. which is where the body of Admiral Lord Nelson was taken after the Battle of Trafalgar. Legend has it that he was placed in a barrel of rum to preserve the body. Hence the reason that rum is known as Nelson’s blood.

The weather in Gibraltar is sub-tropical with long hot sunny days and mild evenings. Night diving is a must !
